Winter 2008 Meeting Minutes

Hi Starcrabbers,
Here we go again into another year of camping fun and activities. We had our annual winter meeting at Steve’s 40 East restaurant in White Marsh, Md. on March 15, 2008. We had 15 families attend. Those present were: Tom, Mandy and Nate Neito; Lois and Gene Barnes; Janice and Bob Sanford; Nan and Lee Neil; Richard and Diane Blanton; Barbara, Jim and Terry Campbell; Janice and Paul Hense; John Mathias; David Cheuvront; Carl and Barbara Hartman; Mike Simmons; Jeff and Taylor Barnes; Bob and Nancy Turner; Virginia and Tom McCurdy; Donna and Ron Baronti. The meeting was called to order by President Lee Neil. Everyone had a copy of the minutes from the previous meeting. Minutes were approved by all. Lee presented information about the Mid Atlantic. Nancy Mento the President of the New Jersey club will ask her club at their April campout who will be attending the MD Mid Atlantic and let us know. The dinner for that event will be catered. We will be treated to a barbecue chicken dinner on Saturday. Lee thanked Jeff Barnes for maintaining our website so we can continue to provide that extra benefit to all. Please remember to pay your yearly dues of $15.00. Bob Turner treasurer will be collecting them today. Lee said our camping schedule is as posted in the last newsletter. There are still no official dates for June because that campground will not open until April. We will let you know as soon as possible. Lee asked for a count of who would be attending. Five families said that they would be attending.

Next the treasurer’s report was given by Bob Turner. He reported that our checking account was in good standing. There was an itemize record of our account with balances and deposits and ending balances given to those who attended. The account closed out at $1,679.30 as of 12/31/2007. The current balance is $1,379.30 as of 3/14/2008. We have already put out $700.00 toward the Mid Atlantic. Bob said we do make money for the club from our dues but we make more from our raffles. Please continue to support our raffles. Lee acknowledged raffles are beneficial and we will continue them throughout our next camping season.

Tom McCurdy Vice President spoke to us about camping for our April campout. Tom said that the April campout on April 25, 26, &27 at Old Mill Stream in Lancaster, Pa. would cost $41 a night. He needs $41 to reserve your site. We need 10 or more unites for our 10% discount. We have 12 sites reserved. Please pay the full amount if possible. Remember there is a $2 rally fee. Get your money in as soon as possible. The deadline for the money is April 18,2008. If you need special arrangements for the campout please call the campground at 717-299-2314 or 1-866-fun at DW (1-866-386-2839) Speak with Diane.

Nancy Turner secretary read thank you note from John Mathias for the club donation to the American Cancer Society in memory of Peggy. She also read a letter from the American Cancer Society to the club thanking us for our donation of $200 to them in memory of Margaret Mathias. She also told us that Jo Anne Fisher had foot surgery on 3/14/2008. She is doing well The club will send a card. We also heard that Chris Cheuvront was in the hospital recently with a possible bowl obstruction. He is home now recuperating. We will also send him a card. Cliff and Audrey Lewis (previous Starcraft International events mangers) told us that Audrey will have surgery for a knee replacement on April 2. We wish her a successful surgery. We will also send her a card after her surgery. A message came from Carol Tucker of Massachusetts Starcraft Club that Bill Brown passed away on 3/22/2008. He died of a heart attack after shoveling snow. Bill Brown was a member of the Minnesota Starcraft Club. He will be missed. Our heartfelt prayers go out to his family. We will send a card to the family. Nancy asked the members if they were in favor of sending the cards and they all said yes.

Everyone was asked to check his or her name, address, and email address, birthdays and anniversary dates for accuracy. The lists were passed around to members. We will email newsletters and other info to those with email.
We will send newsletters in the mail to The Hartman's and John Mathias. Any urgent info someone will call them. Please let me know that you have received your email newsletter. Nancy will also send you two letters that are correspondence from Reggie and Brenda Price who are the Starcraft International Event Mangers.

Lee Neil said he will be handling the Mid Atlantic correspondence. The entire weekend May 23,24,25,26 at Buena Vista Campground, Buena, New Jersey will cost $165.00 per unit. This money includes camping, catered dinner, kids jungle breakfast, pancake breakfast, coffee and doughnut farewell breakfast and other activities. We have goodies and crafts from Jeff Barnes, Barbara Campbell, Donna Baronti, and Mike Simmons with more to come. If you have any items or crafts to donate please call Lee Neil. New members Tom, Mandy and baby Nate were introduced. We all welcomed them to the club. We wish them many fun filled rallies. Lee reminded everyone to continue to check their email for updates, newsletters and camping information. Again thanks to Jeff Barnes for keeping the website up and running. We will continue to plan the Mid Atlantic rally. We will give you an update at the April campout. We will put together the goodie bag at the April campout.
We are going to be very busy planning the Mid Atlantic. We will need everyone’s help in the planning, organizing and hosting this event. Thanks to all for your help. We hope all had a happy Easter Holiday.
